Fantasy Faire 2024: Building a World Without Cancer
Celebrating its sixteenth year, Fantasy Faire 2024 is the largest gathering of fantasy designers, enthusiasts, roleplayers, and performers in the virtual world. From Thursday, April 18 to Sunday, May 5, treat yourself to shopping, dance and theater performances, DJ parties, auctions, questing, our Literary Festival, fantasy art, events, and roleplaying as thousands of Second Life residents and creators bring their own visions together to support the American Cancer Society’s vision of a world without cancer.
You’ll find fantasy avatars, clothing, furnishings, gadgets, and exclusive items available from over 300 of Second Life’s top Fantasy Creators across 20 stunning regions designed by the visionary artists behind many of the most adored spots on the Second Life destination guide.
Fantasy Faire 2024 will be open to the public April 18 – May 5, full eighteen days. The SLurl to the event will be found on the website on our opening day. We welcome you to come and join the story.

I am not an official FF Blogger, I do my independent event review and put my personal opinion in. I don't use FF Blogger's items in my styling. In the mysterious fogs, two rocks rise high, like twins, looking at each other across a narrow strait, where ancient halls full of treasures are hidden in the high walls of the rocks. Silence and tranquility lie on the green hills, which keep the secrets of the past in underground catacombs. And in the sea, an ancient dragon fell asleep for a thousand years and only its head and tail were visible from the water, and its body was overgrown with rocks and became part of an archipelago of many islands. As a silent reminder of the Ancient Days, full of legends and magic.

STORY
In the whimsical town of Lolliocalypse, the legacy of Cornelius Candyclaw, a revered alchemist, cast a long shadow. His descendant, Mayor Craven Candyclaw, inherited not only his name but also his obsession with immortality. Convinced he had unlocked the secret to eternal life, Mayor Craven and his wife, Bonbon, embarked on a perilous path. They enacted Cornelius's final experiment, transforming the unsuspecting citizens into delectable candies, consumed to achieve everlasting life.
As the once bustling streets of Lolliocalypse turned into sugary remnants of lives lost, whispers of dissent echoed among the remaining townsfolk. Mayor Craven and Bonbon, blinded by their desire for immortality, feasted upon the sweet fruits of their dark labor. Yet, as the taste of eternity lingered on their tongues, so too did the bitter truth of their moral decay. In their pursuit of everlasting life, they had sacrificed the very essence of humanity, leaving behind a town forever haunted by the price paid for their selfish ambition.

It was a caress both gentle and potent, a transformation whispered on the wind. The vibrant hues of day bled away, replaced by an ethereal lilac that painted the landscape in hues of twilight dreams.
The once-familiar transformed. Lush gardens morphed into fantastical landscapes, their borders blurring into the encroaching mists. The very air shimmered, charged with the magic of the Duskfall Court. This was no longer a mere castle; it was a doorway, a portal to a realm teetering on the edge of the known world. Anticipation hung heavy in the air, a tantalizing mix of wonder and trepidation. Here, on the precipice of the unseen, anything was possible.

Stepping onto the creaking wooden docks, you feel the weight of history beneath your feet. Every groan of the aged timbers, every ripple across the stagnant harbor water, seems to whisper tales of adventure and despair. A shiver dances down your spine – is it the chill of the approaching night, or a premonition of the dangers that lurk within the Ghost Ship? One thing is certain: the ship holds the key to unlocking a forgotten past, but venturing aboard may require more courage than you ever thought you possessed.

Meet and greet, Nama Gearz!
Tara: What is your Inspiration to create your FF world? What is the Story behind your building?
Nama Gearz: Here's the little bit I wrote to give to the merchants to read for them to choose the region they want to be in. It's a little window to the lore of the place.
"Within the veil of Plankbarrow Harbor, an eternal misty night blankets the floating shanty town. Legend says, every hundred years the wandering pirate den may find itself close enough to land for non-seafaring thieves and bilge rats to come aboard. Only to be entered by pirates under a peaceful pact for refuge, merriment, and trade, and those of any crest or creed are welcome. But be warned. Jump ship before the ghostly harbor drifts back into the mists or you’ll be a stowaway for the next hundred years…"
But the main premise I wanted to start with was taking the Scottish legend of Brigadoon, a disappearing and reappearing town, and applying it to a floating pirate sanctuary. I wanted the vibes to be a little scary and a little inviting (in that adventuring sort of way) at the same time.
Tara: Are there any secrets or interesting places or inner events at your sim, that visitors must see/find/explore/try/take part in?
Nama Gearz: I put a few easter egg things around. There are a lot of little rat friends to find, and some bigger frog friends. And in the beginning of the sim, it's not made apparent because the water can't be seen, but if you jump between the paths going from other regions, there's a little underwater scene there.
Tara: Do you have your own brand/shop? Can you tell me a few words about it? What do you create and what style do you like more?
Nama Gearz: I do! It is STATIC. I love to create things on the darker, spooky side. I specialize in macabre/fantasy-themed clothing, accessories, effects, and body modifications, as I just find it to be more interesting personally. I resonate with those themes, though I can make something in any theme. Sometimes it's good to branch out!

The air vibrates with a thrumming magic as you step into the fantastical realm. Towering, brightly-hued mushrooms, spotted and striped like fantastical candies, dominate the landscape. Sunlight filters through their caps, dappling the ground in a playful mosaic of light and shadow. Sparkling trees, their leaves shimmering like amethysts and emeralds, line the path. Delicate, gossamer wings flit between the branches, hinting at the presence of the fairies who diligently guard this vibrant ecosystem.
This is no ordinary path. It winds and weaves, beckoning you deeper into the heart of the unknown. The whispers of hidden waterfalls and the melodic chirp of unseen creatures pique your curiosity. Every twist and turn holds the promise of a new discovery, a secret place waiting to be unveiled. A sense of wonder washes over you – here, in this fairy-tale world, anything is possible. Miracles lurk around every corner, waiting to be found by those brave enough to seek them.

Meet and greet, Ravenstarr!
In Silevea, the air is heavy with the earthy fragrance of mushrooms and the mystical allure of the enchanted fen, marking the realm of the Sylvan Spore Fae. These diminutive and elusive beings are the guardians of the mushrooms and the stewards of the water's edge. The waters are said to hold ancient magic, whispering secrets of old to those who listen.
Legend has it that when the world was young, the Great Mother, a deity of nature herself, breathed life into the heart of Silevea. With her breath, she created the Sylvan Spore Fae, tasking them with the guardianship of the fungi kingdom and the protection of the waters that give life to their world.
Along the water's edge, the Sylvan Spore Fae act as caretakers, ensuring that the waters remain clean and the life therein thrives. They weave enchantments that purify the water, encouraging harmony between all creatures that come to drink or dwell within its embrace. Their songs, barely audible above the ripple of water, carry blessings of fertility and abundance for the land.
Despite their intrinsic bond with the wild, the Sylvan Spore Fae share a harmonious relationship with the inhabitants of Silevea. The fae and the townsfolk celebrate their bond through a seasonal festival that honors the cycles of nature and the fae's guardianship. Offerings of sweet fruit are left at the edge of the woods and steps of the shops, tokens of gratitude for the blessings bestowed by the Fae.
Tara: Are there any secrets or interesting places or inner events at your sim, that visitors must see/find/explore/try/take part in?
Ravenstarr: Climb the most awe-inspiring cliff known as "Eldriven Edge" up to the Fairechylde above the Whispering Sea. Off the winding path lies an ethereal sanctuary known as the Glen of Whispering Woods, a place where the veil between the mundane and the magical turns to gossamer. Below the Eldriven Edge lies the Silevea Spirit Bowl. The Spirit Bowl is a mystical artifact, revered for its ability to bridge the realms of the living and the departed.
THINGS TO SEE
Climb the most awe-inspiring cliff known as "Eldriven Edge" up to the Fairechylde above the Whispering Sea. The Fairechylde is a marvel of magical engineering, a skyship that transcends the usual bounds of airship design with its enchanting aesthetics and capabilities. Crafted from the enchanted wood of the Eldertree Forest, its hull gleams with a natural, ethereal light, imbuing it with strength to withstand the fiercest storms and agility to dance with the winds. The sails of the Fairechylde, woven from the silk of sky serpents, shimmer with a spectrum of colors not found in the natural world, casting mesmerizing patterns in the air. The Fairechylde is not just a vessel; it is a sentient being, bound by an ancient pact to the lineage of its creators.
HIDDEN SECRETS
Off the winding path lies an ethereal sanctuary known as the Glen of Whispering Woods, a place where the veil between the mundane and the magical turns to gossamer. The trees within this glen are not of ordinary stock; they are the ancient sentinels of the land, upon which clusters of luminescent mushrooms flourish, glowing with a spectrum of ethereal hues. It is a place of refuge and rejuvenation for those who seek to commune with the deeper mysteries of Silevea, a hidden gem that remains untouched by time, forever basking in the gentle glow of its magical inhabitants.
Below the Eldriven Edge lies the Silevea Spirit Bowl. The Spirit Bowl is a mystical artifact, revered for its ability to bridge the realms of the living and the departed.
Things to Ponder: An intricate web of life pulsates with magic, at the heart of which lie the luminescent mushrooms of Silevea. These are not mere plants; they are the keystones of an ancient and intricate network that connects every root, every leaf, and every droplet of dew within the kingdom's enchanted realm. This network, known as the Mycelium Veil, is the lifeblood of Silevea, a magical conduit through which the energy of the land flows, connecting the living with the ethereal, the seen with the unseen.

Ravenstarr: I don't. But, my build partners do. Cube Republic sells plants and trees. He curated a magical line of mushrooms, plants, and trees for Silevea. Ica64 owns Icaland and creates fantasy buildings and props. Ica created a line of medieval-style building pieces that were used to create the shops in Silevea.
