My name is Tara Paxlapis-Savior (TaraAers).
I took part in SL Renfest 2024 as a Blogger, but also I am a Creator there having the ~TARA~ shop in Region 5.
I walked and explored Renfest Regions around and made my personal article
and vision about SL Renfest 2024.
I am an official Renfest Blogger, also I am also a member of the SL Blogger Community.

I believe that many people already know Renfest, and love and admire this event, but many more people do not know anything about it. Our interview aims to bring more information, unveil the goals and values of the event, and invite people to join the amazing journey and go this path all together with mutual support, enjoying the medieval spirit of the Renaissance era with its Pride of Humanity and Glory of Beauty.
Tara: Can you tell us please, why you chose the medieval Renaissance theme to bring this event to life? What was your inspiration and story behind the concept and all the building?
Skysong: In Second Life I belong to a medieval community as a member of Dragon's Lair and Medieval Games Alliance. Archduke Nephilim was approached by Nuala and as they say - the rest is history! We live the medieval life in SL with jousting, melee, and archery and enjoy fairs and other events and although we didn't realize it at the time, many in our group's lives have been touched in some way or form by cancer. This was an opportunity to fight back against it with what we love doing.
Tara: What are the goals and values of the Renfest event? How can it work in balance with the charitable aspect?
Skysong: Our goals with RenFest are simple. We must do all that we can to raise not only money to fight against cancer and foster more research on how to defeat it but also to raise awareness of support groups and information. There are so many resources available to cancer patients and survivors as well as their caregivers that people may not know about.
Getting that information out there is key. We all need someone to lean on and there are support groups inworld, T1 Radio that offer information year around and more. Yes, we absolutely want to have fun whilst raising these funds and have found a fun way to do so.
Tara: Can you introduce the Renfest Team and tell us about the people behind the concept and their collaboration as a team?
Skysong: Our Renfest team has been blessed with truly talented people who are willing to give their time and energy to bring this to fruition. From leads such as Nephilim Ventris in Tournaments, Abielle Costayne in Role Play Pavillions and Royals of the Day, Ariell Fallen in building, and this year's new addition in Merchants and Bloggers, Adonis Lubomir to the people who support and help each area Kadaj, Journey, Gabi, Roman, Kyavel, Ice, Alice, Kali, the T1 Radio crew with Trader, Adrianna, Xyza, Nance, and I could go on. When people say, "It takes a Village", they aren't kidding.
We couldn't do this without the volunteer live singers, the RP community, the medieval community as a whole, and all of the extremely talented merchants! Not to mention all those who come to the festival with giant hearts, though sometimes bruised by life, they rally and give of themselves each year. We have an amazing culture of giving in Second Life.
Tara: Can you provide some information about the theme of Renfest 2024 and the Sims building? Who are the builders, and what do they express with their building regions?
Skysong: The theme of RenFest this year started out as a nod to two of my favorite movies "A Knight's Tale" and "Robin Hood" but morphed into our actual theme "Arrows of Hope: Valor and Victory Against Breast Cancer".
This vision then began to come to life with a collaboration of ideas and was carried to fruition by Ariell Fallen and Kadaj Yoshikawa of Harshlands' beautiful builds. Kadaj also created a beautiful statue symbolizing a woman's fight against breast cancer. They both have poured heart and soul into making these 6 regions into a restful and inviting place.
Tara: What are activities and events during Renfest 2024, so people can join and take a part in? Are there any secrets or interesting places that visitors must see/find/explore?
Skysong: We have over 70 hours of live music on the main stage in Region Two just across from a huge raffle garden, mega raffles, and the Linden raffles and Silent Auctions. We also have a beautiful serene Celebration of Life garden for people to rest in and enjoy the roses on seats made of hedge. You can put a picture of a loved one(s) in a frame to grace the garden with their beauty.
We have over 120 stores with 240 exclusive items and stag hunt bargains at 25L in each shop and even in some of the RolePlay Pavillions. If you are looking for a realm to role-play with - come and explore their booths in the Traveler's Camp and attend an rp session. Meet our Royal of the Day, a king or queen who are survivor or caregiver that we honor for their dedication and courage.
Get a free bow, sword, or demo lance try out the equipment on the tournament fields in Region 3, and cheer on your favorite warriors in tournaments. We also have rezzable horses and riding trails with a maze. This year we also have a few specialty shows such as Okiya Geisha, DAW Wrestling, Premier Wrestling, Dream Stars Ragnarok Dance Troupe, Rise Wrestling, and of course the famous Linden Pillory!
Those naught moles and Lindens are accused again! Vote for your team to save them from the pillory!
Tara: What do you wish to say to all participants and guests of Renfest? How can one join this event next year?

Renfest 2024 is a place where people can escape the modern world and immerse themselves in the past. They could wander through the bustling marketplace, haggle with merchants over handmade goods, or watch skilled artisans at work. They could attend jousting tournaments, listen to lectures on philosophy, or simply enjoy the beauty of the city.

The entrance to Renfest 2024 was a spectacle to behold. A towering wooden gate, adorned with intricate carvings of dragons and knights, stood guard over the bustling city and a horse waiting to ride into the city. As visitors crossed the threshold, they were greeted by sounds the sounds of a living city - the clanging of swords, the laughter of visitors, and the sweet melodies of minstrels.

The info area was a hive of activity, bustling with eager visitors seeking guidance and information. A team of knowledgeable staff, dressed in colorful Renaissance attire, were on hand to answer questions and provide maps of the city. Visitors could learn about upcoming events, such as jousting tournaments, falconry demonstrations, theatrical performances, and much more.

Beyond the bustling city center of Renfest 2024, a serene forest beckoned visitors to explore its wonders. Sunlight dappled through the canopy, casting intricate patterns on the forest floor where a menagerie of woodland creatures scurried about. Squirrels chased each other up ancient oaks, while rabbits nibbled on wildflowers. The air was filled with the sweet scent of pine and the gentle rustling of leaves.

Nestled amidst the trees was a charming herbalist's hut. A wizened old woman, her face lined with years of experience, tended to her garden of medicinal herbs. The herbalist was always happy to share her knowledge and offer remedies for common ailments.

Just a short distance away, the rhythmic hammering of a woodworker's chisel echoed through the forest. The workshop was filled with the warm scent of freshly cut wood and the low hum of tools. Visitors could watch as the craftsman worked, marveling at his skill and precision.

One of the most popular destinations in the city was the Tavern of the Adventurers, a bustling establishment where weary travelers could quench their thirst and share stories of their adventures. The tavern was filled with the sounds of clinking mugs and lively conversation, and the walls were adorned with swords, shields, and other relics of past battles.
