CARDBOARD MARKET
Cartoon Cardboard is going forward!
Powerful mainstream, what makes people happy!
Project Mesh Revolution and new paper avatars!
It was born as a 1st April joke from Salt and Pepper. This flat paper avatar captivated the hearts of many people and inspired creative ideas that were previously impossible in a 3D mesh.
Cardboard's World unites people, makes them equal and happy, and works as self-therapy.
The paper world is our kids' dream about Fairylands created with simple, cute, imaginative, unusual images, tools, and materials. Everything is different and genius, naive as every simple kid's creations. And we love it because of it! A world that allows us to return in our kids' Dreams!
Awesome Cardy avatar is a favorite one by many people in SL for its simplicity and easy ways to create DIY things. While some people are happy with their creations and open the talents of a creator inside themselves, other people just have fun with styling and help to post more and more awesome photos in the grid.
"A fleet of bold Cardies took flight,
To a party that lasted all night.
They danced without care,
Felt no wear or tear—
Just pure cardboard joy and delight!"

This poem was the main meaning of what happened at the Cardboard Market opening on June 28th. It was an incredibly happy and friendly party with awesome musical hits from DJ Sabbian, lasting for 4 hours! Everyone loved this place, where you can be weird, creative, happy, well-crazy, free, and much more!
Many jaw-dropping and wow products from talented creators, you never could imagine before, with awesome low prices!
Come to see everything with your own eyes!
CARDBOARD MARKET, PLAYGROUND AND GARDEN
Created by Myrdin Sommer
Cardboard Market grew up in 3 times since Opening day, and now this is the most popular place for all paper avatars to meet, have fun, make parties, and just hang out with an awesome "flat" experience.
The market consists of 2 parts and has 30+ shopping booths with GIFTS and low-cost items. Sure, exclusive items are released from different creators every 2-3 days, and many items go as GROUP GIFTS only for members

INTERVIEW WITH MYRDIN SOMMER
Here is an Interview with Myrdin Sommer, a forwarder of cardboard design, a crazy creator who never gives up, and is a great inspirational example for everyone who still has doubts about their own skills.
This interview will help you to believe in yourself, give you many cheerful tips for creation, and perhaps, will change your life vision! Read it!
Tara: Hello, Myrdin. Thank you for taking the time to interview with me today. I’m eager to delve into the world of Cardboard World in SL and explore the creative inspirations behind it. Your insights will undoubtedly inspire many to embrace their creativity.

Background Before Cardboard Design: Exploring Myrdin's Journey:
Tara: Can you share with us what you were doing before you became a Cardboard designer? What inspired you to venture into this unique field?
Myrdin: I am a perpetual creative, my brain is always exploding with ideas, brain farts as i call them, that need to be born :) Before the Cardboard Market, I had built a sim called lynchLand, which was an homage to David lynch his works. After LynchLand I built a sim called Drone Haven, an apocalyptic sim (btw both Lynchland and Drone Haven were a collaboration with other talented people)
Then Cardboard happened!
To me, it is the best thing since long that has happened to SL, it brought the FUN back!
A lot of people started creating items for the Cardy & Cardo avatar that Salt Peppermint created as an April Fools Day prank.
And so did I, I have only been ' human' like 4 times since April 1st, I am totally Hard into the Card so to say :D
This Cardboard Mania became a community of fun, friendly, helpful, and sharing-caring sort of people.
Most of us sell our makings for very few Lindens and a lot of us even give away our items for free!
And I feel that's the way it should stay!
This cardboard thing should NOT become a money-making machine. It should stay free or very cheap.
That way it stays fun for all, and it inspires people to try and also start creating, since it sort of is quite easy to make stuff for the Project Mesh Revolution bodies (PMR)
Tara rented at the Admire Sim and thought it would be nice if there was a Cardy & Cardo area, so she asked the owners and they agreed, then she asked me to build a Cardboard market over at Admire shopping mall, and so I did.
Very soon in the process, I found myself a bit frustrated over the fact that not all was in my own hands.
I needed more rights on the land than they would give me to build a place that is 100% to my liking.
So I went and bought a plot of Mainland and rebuilt the Cardboard Market there and added 13 more booths, so there are 22 booths right now, filled with the most marvelous creators of cool cardboard and paper items.
I wanted the market to be for everything cardboard-related, so not only for the Cardy & Cardo avatars, so right now we also have a booth with Paperfriends avatars, for example.
And since creating events with DJs is something I love to do, the Cardboard Market of course needed to have events also :))
so I am planning a party each month from now on.
The mandatory dress code will always be 'Everything cardboard or paper'.
I am very sick in RL, and SL is all I had last year, so I built to stay distracted.
I create items for Cardy and Cardo nonstop like a maniac, I am in cardboard Hyper-focus all the time :P

Creative Process: The creativity behind the designs:
Tara: I am continually amazed by the originality and uniqueness of your products. Could you share some of your creative secrets or helpful tips? What processes do you follow to create a cardboard design, and where do you draw inspiration for these incredible visuals?
Myrdin: Oh man, this is a hard question! My inspiration comes from everything possible, from a flies poop on my window to a movie i saw, from great music and art, from looking at people around me > make connections > POOF a BRAINFART comes and I need to make it get born into the world :)

Advice for Aspiring Designers: Broadening the conversation to guidance for others:
Tara: For individuals who might be struggling with their creative projects or for those who are hesitant to start, what advice would you offer? What essential steps can they take to find their direction?
Myrdin: OK, my big tip is: NEVER feel you cannot do something!
Just go and try, experiment.
The most amazing things come from experimenting
And don't be afraid to ask for help, In SL I find a LOT of people are very willing to help, you only need to ask :)
'Yes, but I can't make mesh!?'
No problem at all!
MP is filled with great Full perm mesh you can use!
Building in prims is also amazing, especially for cardboard, since you can easily make the cardboard edges :)
Also, try to think outside the box!
Do you want to make spiky cardboard hair? Find a flat-shaped mesh on MP and make spiky hair from it, for example.
Look at the shapes available and convert them in your brain, see what else you can do with the shape :)
And make nice ads for your items, it works, yes, but to me it's worth it.
Also, make sure you provide enough info with each item on your MP.
And then spam the shit out of all your social media, that's what they are there for ;)

Cardboard Market Development: The growth of the Cardboard Market
Tara: The Cardboard Market has become a remarkable event in a very short time, attracting numerous designers and offering visitors extraordinary entertainment unique to a 2D format. Can you tell us how this event came to fruition? What are your plans for its development as we approach the end of the year?
Myrdin: A lot I have talked about above.
I never look very far ahead, maybe due to sickness, but I think I was always this way.
I create what I feel needs to be created right NOW because it brings me joy.
Money is important to pay the roof over your head and to get food, but other than that, to me, it is not very important.
What is essential is to make yourself and others happy and to make someone smile today.
Life is short, try to be a good person instead of being a money chaser :)
For the Cardboard Market, I am not doing this to make money, as a matter of fact, it only costs me money since I keep the booth rent very low.
BUT the fun it brings me is priceless!
Sharing=Caring is my motto
If everybody i the world would share a little more and do a little less 'grabbing', this world would be so much happier for a lot of people.
O.k., I am drifting off the:
So, no real plans, only hopes.
I hope this cardboard mania will be alive for a long time.
I hope the cardboard market will be alive for a long time.
I am looking into buying more land so I can expand the market with more booths and also to have more room and prims so I can build temporary venues for the parties I am planning each month

Tara: Thank you very much for your thoughtful answers today, Myrdin. I wish you continued success with your team, and an ever-growing number of visitors, and may you always find fun and inspiration in your creative journey and the way you keep inspiring all of us.
Myrdin: Thank you, Tara! <3
